The King Alfred is a traditional, warm and friendly town pub, next to a bus stop and has a busy vibrant feel. There is a wide selection of real ales and live entertainment on Friday and Saturday nights.

Alfreton is a town which is just seeing some nice pub and restaurant investments. The King Alfred is the perfect place for a quality pint of local cask ale at any time of day.

Located in the middle of High Street in Alfreton, The King Alfred is an imposing building. Constructed in the 1930's, the pub is the focal point of the busy, bustling ex-mining town a few miles from junction 28 of the M1.

The pub is owned by the Pub People Company, whose offices are based in the nearby village of South Normanton and it is this localness which underpins the newly refurbished pub. From the local cask ales and locally sourced meat to the local printers and suppliers of day to day items, the King Alfred business seek supply from many businesses in the county.

Cask ales play an important role in the pub. There are 8 handpulls, dispensing beer from just £2.20 a pint from local breweries like Amber Ales in Ripley, Castle Rock in Nottingham and Blue Monkey from Giltbrook. These are alongside well known regional names such as Wychwood's Hobgoblin brewed in Burton-on-Trent and Sharp's Doombar.

Friday and Saturday night sees the King Alfred come alive with superb resident DJ Mark Bryan playing all the latest hits and some true classics too. So put a smile on your face and get into the weekend with some great music.

Fresh coffee and food are available every day at the King Alfred. Coffee is freshly ground and made from a traditional Italian barista machine and the quality is excellent. This is served from 9am every morning (Ex Sunday) along with a new breakfast menu.

Food is a traditional pub menu and is great value. Launched in march 2016 the menu is packed full of choice and complimented by a range of deals which give everybody a reason to want come to The King Alfred every day!
