Ilkeston is a town within the Borough of Erewash, in Derbyshire, England. It lies on the River Erewash, from which the local borough takes its name. The town is close to both Derby and Nottingham and is near to the M1 motorway. Although Ilkeston lies within Derbyshire, it is closer to Nottingham than it is to Derby.

Heanor Road is a busy road into and out of Ilkeston and the Rutland Cottage is very noticeable. There is a very large car park to the rear and the daily offers are visible on the giant a-board that dominates the car park entrance.

The pub is a freehold and thus offers a diverse and wide range of cask ale, with Marston's Pedigree as the house bitter. A range of changing guest ales keeps the locals interested and local Ilkeston breweries such as Dancing Duck, Fun Fair and Muirhouse Brewery all feature regularly.

The main menu offers an interesting choice of traditional pub favourites, snacks and sandwiches as well as 28 day aged Derbyshire beef from the grill. The main attraction of the menu has to be the 2 Meals For £12 offer which is currently available 12pm -3pm and 5pm-8.30pm mid-week and 12pm-3pm towards the weekend. The Sunday lunch is always hugely popular and booking is strongly recommended.

Families are more than welcome at The Rutland Cottage and their Kids Menu offers children the chance to 'build their own meal' and it even comes with a Robinson's Fruit Shoot! Whilst children are welcome they are not allowed in the pub or restaurant after 9pm and we ask that you respect our licensing conditions.

The large beer garden is a real sun trap and, not surprisingly, attracts the masses during the (rare) sunny days we enjoy!
